Gionee Elife E6 is officially unveiled in a press event held in Beijing, China. It costs 2699 Yuan or approx Rs 26347 in Indian currency. This seems a lot of money! Specs are alright but one can buy a Google LG Nexus 4 or even a Samsung Galaxy S3 at the same price. This is the area where I guess Gionee will fail to draw the attention of buyers. So far the Chinese company is doing well both in China and India. But Gionee Elife E6 at Rs 26,000 doesn’t look like to get any sort of hike. Panasonic made the same mistake by bringing a MTK phone for more than Rs 26,000 (now Rs 21-22k). It significantly failed in India. Now it’s interesting to see how Gionee India reacts.
Gionee Elife E6 sports 5 inch IPS LCD OGS display panel with 1080p resolution support. There is scratch resistant Corning Gorilla Glass coating on top of display surface. Display is really a brilliant one.
Gionee Elife E6
Built on Android 4.2 JellyBean Gionee Elife E6 is powered by MediaTek MT6589T Turbo chip that couples quad core 1.5 GHz ARM Cortex A7 application processor and PowerVR SGX544MP GPU clocked at 357 MHz. It has 2 GB of RAM for faster multitasking and better gaming. On top of default JellyBean UI they have used Amigo UI.
Gionee always makes sure the handsets are slimmer to the rivals and the built in quality is good. The phablet is measured to have a thickness of 7.9 mm which is pretty good. The Elife E5 is even slimmer and has a thickness of 6.85 mm. However, the bezel width is 2.54 mm which is other impressive feature of the beast.
Gionee Elife E6 is coming in 32 GB storage option only. Micro SD card slot is there for further storage requirement.
It’s a single sim phone and supports quad band GSM and dual band WCDMA 900/2100 MHz network. In connectivity front it has Bluetooth v4.0, Wi-Fi, micro USB. I guess Wi-Fi Direct is there as Elife E5 has Wi-Fi Direct. NFC is absent. Bunch of sensors including accelerometer, proximity, ambient light, magnetometer, gyroscope sensor are present in this model.
The camera quality seems to be very good. Gionee Elife E6 has a 13 MP back camera with F2.2 aperture and 5 MP front camera. It supports full HD 1080p video recording and playback. Dual front speakers and DTS 3D Surround Sound Enhancement turns it in to a music phone.
I am not impressed with a 2000 mAh Li-Po battery. There should have been at least a 2500 mAh battery. Apart from that specs are good. Currency conversion doesn’t work always. Therefore, a cheaper price is what now we can hope.
